These members are nominated by the respective deans, in consultation with their staffs, and appointed by the Senate. The term of office is for three years with staggered appointments. Students at the University are represented by the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services Senator who has the privilege of one vote. An alternate student is designated to attend in the absence of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services Senator.
