Deaf Education at Utah State

The Deaf Education Program prepares students to become classroom teachers of deaf/hard of hearing children OR parent-infant advisors for deaf children and their parents. The teacher training track requires dual certification: Deaf Education and either Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Early Childhood Education. Upon completion of the masters program (M.Ed.) in Deaf Education, the student will be certifiable in Deaf Education and their teaching area of emphasis. The program philosophy is of a bilingual/bicultural nature: a strong emphasis linking American Sign Language and English as well as an understanding of and respect for both the Deaf culture and the hearing culture.

The degree offered is a masters degree in Deaf Education, M.Ed.
