Departmental Mission Statement
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education at Utah State University is committed to advancing the awareness and knowledge of normal and disordered processes of communication, as well as the clinical and educational practices that effectively meet the communication and academic needs of children and adults with communication differences and disorders.
In order to fulfill this mission:
- We provide educational programs that span the areas of normal and disordered language, speech, and hearing (including physiological, acoustic, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive, and cultural processes).
- We provide professional training programs in audiology, speech-language pathology and deaf education that develop educators, clinicians and scholars who make evidence-based decisions and communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.
- We provide local, state, national and international service to individuals with communication differences and disorders.
- We conduct research to advance knowledge of human communication and its disorders and contribute to the advancement of the professions of speech-language pathology, audiology and deaf education.
