Course Requirements

Students interesting in pursuing a Master of Science degree in HPER may complete the following: a 30 semester hours thesis option in Exercise Science; a Corporate Wellness program of 40 semester hours which includes a field experience; or a 30 semester hour Health Education option including a thesis. Those students not interested in a Master of Science degree, but who are interested in excellence in teaching may persue the Master of Education degree, including 36 semester hours of course work and a creative project. The curriculum flexibility and transfer hours are accepted depending upon the nature of the courses and when they were taken.

Specific Areas of Emphasis

The strengths of this graduate program are: Exercise Science, Corporate Wellness, and Health Education. Students have the opportunity to work in an on-going Wellness Center.

Graduate Assistantships

Students with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college of university who have a 3.0 grade point average, acceptable scores on either the Miller Analogies Test or the Graduate Record Examination, and three letters of recommendation are eligible to apply for $6,500 teaching assistantships or research assistantships with out-of-state tuition being waived. Preference is given to graduate students who can teach a variety of physical education skill activity courses. Applications are received on continuous basis during the year and students my matriculate at any time.
